has graduated the Choral Conducting Department of Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music with a bachelor’s degree in the class of Edgars Račevskis and Ivars Bērziņš (1992) and master’s degree in the class of Imants Kokars (1995). Since 1997 she is a conductor of Ogre women’s choir „Rasa”, since year 2000 she is also leading the women’s choir „Dzintars” as well as Riga Dom Cathedral Girls’ Choir. Already since the year 2003 she is the Chief conductor of Ogre district choirs and the artistic director of the Ogre Music festival. Birziņa has been a chief conductor of the XXIII and XXIV Nationwide Latvian Song celebrations, initiator and active organizator of several choir singing and educational events. She has worked in the Conducting and Vocal Pedagogy Department of the Riga Teacher Training and Educational Management Academy, since 2006 she is an Assistant Professor of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, but since 2011 as an Associate Professor of Choral Coducting. Together with the choirs „Ausma”, „Dzintars” and Riga Dom Cathedral Girs’ Choir she has received several prizes of various significant international choir contests. She has been a leader of several seminars, courses, masterclasses, also participated as an expert in the jury of various Latvian and international choir, vocal ensembles and composing competitions.
